Leaving for the Future's Sake
Sighing I sat down in my all-too-familiar seat beside Judah. I couldn't bear to look in his direction; every time I did so I cried. I was so afraid that he would leave me alone.
It was the day after I had found Valli ready to leave to meet Aeger, whom she loved. Garnet was alerted of it and we tried to keep it a secret, but one of the dragon's must have told someone, for it spread around the Dragon Academy like a wildfire that was attempting to be kept low to the ground. There was no possible way to keep the flames from dancing high into the air.
So Valli strayed away from most everybody, feeling ashamed and afraid of what people would think of her. I thought much about the girl while I sat with Judah and listened to his unsteady breathing. His eyelids never fluttered open in those days while I waited solely for that moment. My mother tended to him almost once an hour.
Aduro joined me that morning.

"In your phone or on it?
"Ooooooh. How interesting. May I see it?"
"Sure thing yo!" he said, tossing it over. I caught it with ease.
"Hmm..." -I opened the battery compartment and peered into it- "I don't see any Internet in here..."
